Your memories belong to you.
Public website information
The home page, Remember, Family, Why Memories Matter and About pages are public. Everything on them is written by us or is a fictional demonstration. Nothing you type into a public page is sent anywhere or stored by us.
Private memories
Anything you add in My Memories is written to storage inside your own web browser, on the device you are using. It is not uploaded, not synced, not shared and not visible to us. It is also not a backup — if you clear your browser data or switch devices, it will not follow you.
Photos
Photos you choose are resized in your browser and re-saved, which removes hidden metadata such as GPS location. They are never uploaded to a server. Only image files are accepted, up to 6 MB each.
Voice recordings
We treat family voice recordings as the most private content there is. Because they deserve real protection, storing them here waits for a properly secured private server. They are never used for advertising, profiling or training AI models — not now, not later.
Local storage
We use your browser's local storage for three things: your private memories, your optional preferences, and your chosen text size. Nothing else.
Analytics
This version of the site runs no third-party tracking or advertising scripts. If basic, privacy-respecting visit counting is ever added, it will never include private memory text, photographs or recordings.
External links
Links to Psychology Today, the National Institute on Aging, the Alzheimer's Association, SAMHSA and the Eldercare Locator go to those organizations' own websites. Once you're there, their privacy policies apply, not ours.
Deletion
Every private memory can be deleted one at a time, and everything on the device can be deleted at once, from the bottom of the My Memories page. There is nothing to email us about and nothing to wait for.
Children and family uploads
This site is meant for adults — children and grandchildren adding memories for a parent or grandparent. Anything a family member adds goes only into that family's private space on their own device. Please only add photographs and stories you have the right to share, and ask the person before you record their voice.
Search engines
The private area is marked so search engines don't index it, and it isn't listed in our sitemap. Private memories never have a public web address, because they never leave your device.
